Grey and gray

After years of playing with the brightest colours I could find,  I'm turning to white, quiet greys and shadowy colours. Cloudy, rainy day colours. This evening a harvest of recycled old shirts, cut up and washed, is drying inside.

Stone

Water

Clouds

Oh such lovely grays...is a project brewing?

Yes, but I have to stop rearranging things and get out the scissors and make a decision....
Just noticed you spelt grey with an 'a'. Just the right word to use with those warm grays in the stone. Grey will do very well for the clouds and the rain. So I've changed the title of this post.

I've never considered the difference between the two...but yours is a really good distinction. Gray for warm and grey for cool and maybe somewhat gloomy. I hardly recognized it as a color until I worked for a woman in Maine who painted nearly every wall in her house some shade of gray/grey and suddenly the pastels within came alive to my eyes.

Yes, blossom against a grey sky - the grey makes pink glow.

Dear grace are you asking where is the quilt? well it's a part-pieced cloth & pile of maybe bits. I DO get things finished. eventually.

I have always been confused which way to spell it. But, last time I searched online for an answer, I read that in America it is spelled with an A and eleswhere across the pond with an E. That's easy enough for me to remember, so that's how I do it now. I do like you 'explanation' here :)

Hello Nancy, thanks for giving me another spot to visit! I am fascinated by all the dye work going on at the moment. Summer is a great time for this!
