Of course there was a koala in the gum tree by that stable.
Right now the day is heating up to a typical Christmas heat. Over 30 degrees and a dusty northerly blowing from the centre.
I love the old European carols but will also be singing this
The north wind is tossing the trees
the red dust is over the town
The sparrows are under the eaves
and the grass in the paddocks is brown
As we lift up our voices and sing
To the Christ child the heavenly king
and The Carol of the Birds and The Three Drovers, three carols by John Wheeler, joyfully round the house for the next few days.
It's a hot Christmas here in the south of the world.
(If you must know it's not a koala, it's a biscuit tin - used to be full of Christmas shortbread. It's one of my favourite objects and always comes out for Christmas. I don't really do tasteful)
